According to a CNN ,article "What does your favorite music say about you,"? by John Bonifield , stated that a renowned music psychologist from the University of Cambridge, David Greenberg, tested thousands of people about their music preferences to establish a link between choice of music and temperament. Not surprisingly, he found a direct correlation between music tastes and personality. Mr. Greenberg discovered two dominant traits among the volunteers which he labeled "systemizers" and "empathizers".

Empathizers

People who listened to laid back, soft, calming music were more caring, empathetic and

emotional. Empathisers main goal is to choose types of music that plays to their heart in a positive way. Their question is always how will it make me feel. This group would most likely listen to ballads,

Empathizers display a high emotional quotient who thrive in jobs that require heavy doses of compassion.

Systemizers

The next group favored piercing, strong, heightened and multifarious beats. Systemizers love the many aspects that encompasses the whole song that they hear. They enjoy the combination of lyrics, vocals, instruments, tact, rhythm, bass, pitch and texture, etc. The fundamental basic elements is the key to find music that suits them.

The group, systemizers, gravitated towards such interests as meteorology, mathematics, science, physics, geology and the like. They enjoy figuring things out, putting puzzle pieces together, or analysing patterns.

Empathizers and Systemizers overlappers (ESO)

This bunch enjoys listening to mellow music as well as high intensity tunes. When Eso's truly enjoy both, they are typically show a more proportional and balanced way of thinking, according to Mr. Green.

In sum, CNN reported that David conveyed that we choose music styles to reflect our state of being and how it mirrors our personality. Further, he theorizes that certain types of music induces different types of hormones to balance our emotional state and helps us to relate to our environment. As reported by rd online (Reader's Digest) which referenced an in depth study by Dr. North who analyzed student’s SAT scores and compared them to their musical preferences. This study goes on the assumption that people devotedly listen to only one type of genre. Here it goes:

Metal

Metal fans rejoice in the fact that allegedly you are smarter than average. You do not strive to dominate or, at least, not as much as other genre listeners. A rebel lives somewhere inside you and you are an intense person with athletic prowess.

Rock, heavy metal, alternative

Rock lovers supposedly creative beings who are open to new experiences. You find them rocking to the beat, more often, than rocking their body to the clanging beats of exercise.

Electronic, hip-hop, rap, soul, reggae

As expected, it’s all about the thumping base of the music and the rhythm of the people moving to the beat in perfect rhythm. These listeners appear to be very outgoing, agreeable, nice looking and into sports. Liberalism is their political battle cry and usually score lower on iq tests and bank accounts. Depression does not typically run in these music lovers.

Country, pop, religious, soundtracks

Most likely, you won’t find an introvert in this category, but you will find sporty, good looking, pleasant, wealthy, upbeat people. This group politically leans on the conservative side

Electronic, hip-hop, rap, soul

Blues, classical, folk, jazz
